About Us

Troop 246 is one of the oldest Boy Scout troops in central Minnesota having been founded in 1928. Our troop is a member of the Crow River District that is within the Northern Star Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Northern Star is now among the five largest in the United States, serving more than 108,000 youths and families in all or part of 21 counties in Minnesota and four counties in Western Wisconsin. Our Troop 246 is grateful to be sponsored by the Hutchinson Elks Lodge #2427 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of the United States of America who have been instrumental in keeping this Troop active and flourishing over the past 25+ years. The Elks have provided canoes, funds for summer camp at Many Point Scout Camp near Park Rapids, funds for camping equipment and much more. The Elks have also provided many opportunities to be involved with the community. The Troop has been involved in the Elks Gun Show, the annual Easter Egg Hunt and the Flag History Presentation. Without the Charter Representatives there can be no troop and without an active Boy Scout Troop, many boys will miss the opportunity for learning the values and morals that keep our country strong.
